Goalkeeper is a problem position for new Spurs boss
Roberto De Zerbi has not considered whether Guglielmo Vicario will be at Tottenham next season, as he admitted the Italian goalkeeper has yet to return to training from injury.
De Zerbi, like his predecessors, has been beset by injuries since taking the reins at Spurs just over a month ago.
Having lost Xavi Simons, Cristian Romero and Mohammed Kudus to season-ending injuries, he has also been unable to call upon Vicario during his first four games in charge.
The Italian has not played since undergoing hernia surgery over the March international break, with Antonin Kinsky deputising in his place.
Kinsky was unlucky not to keep successive clean sheets last weekend as Aston Villa scored a stoppage-time consolation goal with their only shot on target, as Spurs won 2-1 at Villa Park to move out of the relegation zone.
On Vicario’s continued absence, De Zerbi said he had not yet returned to training despite having initially stated that he expected the 29-year-old to return three weeks ago.

“No, [he has not returned to training]. With me, no,” De Zerbi said.
“Vicario is still the first [choice] goalkeeper [at] Tottenham. Because what Vicario showed this season is enough to consider him a top player for us.
“But we have to consider the physical condition, the period – how many games he missed. We will see when Vicario will be good.”
Vicario is one of a number of first-team players said to be considering their futures, with interest from his native Italy, including recently crowned Serie A champions Inter Milan.
De Zerbi, though, says he has not considered whether his No1 will stay with Spurs next season as focus remains on keeping the north London club in the Premier League.
“I don’t know [whether Vicario will be at the club next season]. If you ask me if I have any ideas about next season, my answer is no.
“For two reasons, one, I have no time to think about next season, and two, after two wins if I lose time thinking about next season’s squad I am being arrogant.
“You think after two wins, after a very tough period, you already consider yourself safe? No.”
