Thomas Frank forced into changes for trip to Selhurst Park

Tottenham have been forced into changes when for today’s London derby against Crystal Palace.

Xavi Simons and Cristian Romero are both suspended for the trip to Selhurst Park after being sent off in last weekend’s 2-1 defeat to Liverpool.

Simons will serve a three-game ban after being awarded a straight red card for a late challenge on Virgil van Dijk, while Romero is out for one game after his two yellow cards.

Kevin Danso comes in at the centre of defence alongside Micky van de Ven.

Frank has no fresh injury concerns ahead of the trip to Palace but long-term absentees Dominic Solanke and Dejan Kulusevski are still not close to a return.

Solanke has been out since August with an ankle problem, while Kulusevski has been absent since the end of last season with a patella injury.

Frank had hoped Kulusevski could return before the end of 2025, but his rehabilitation has taken longer than expected.

“The same as I said before, both of them,” said Frank said in his pre-match press conference. “I will be very happy when I can announce how they are part of the squad. So, yeah, that's where it is. I think it's much better to speak about it when they're here.”

Destiny Udogie is also out until the New Year with a hamstring injury suffered against Newcastle, while James Maddison is unlikely to play again this season as he works his way back from an serious knee injury.

Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma are at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Spurs were much improved in their defeat to Liverpool last weekend. Opting to play without a recognised striker, Frank’s side looked more fluid in the opening 30 minutes.

Richarlison came off the bench to drag Spurs back into the game and Frank has rewarded the Brazilian by bringing him back into the team.
