Alexander Nübel apparently no longer has a future at FC Bayern. Following the extension of Manuel Neuer’s contract, Munich are now pursuing a clear plan with the international goalkeeper
The signs between FC Bayern and Alexander Nübel seem to be pointing to a definitive parting of the ways. According to information from BILD, the Munich club want to permanently relinquish the goalkeeper, who is currently on loan to VfB Stuttgart, in the summer
According to the report, it has already been decided internally that Nübel no longer has any prospects at the German record champions and Bayern are even said to want to prevent the 29-year-old from returning to team training at Säbener Straße after the end of his Stuttgart loan on June 30
Instead, according to the report, those responsible are working on a solution for all parties involved, with a permanent sale being preferred – ideally to the Premier League
However, a transfer is likely to be complicated. Nübel is said to earn an annual salary of around eleven million euros at FC Bayern. According to the report, it is precisely these financial conditions that make both a Bundesliga transfer and a possible stay at VfB Stuttgart considerably more difficult
Those responsible at VfB are already planning for the long term with home-grown Dennis Seimen, who will return from his loan to SC Paderborn in the summer and is seen internally as the future number 1
With the official contract extensions of Manuel Neuer and Sven Ulreich until 2027, the goalkeeping hierarchy at FC Bayern seems to have been finally clarified
Jonas Urbig in particular appears to enjoy a great deal of trust internally. The former Cologne man moved to Munich in January 2025 and is increasingly being seen as a long-term solution for the future

The statements made by Bayern bosses in the official announcement regarding Neuer’s extension also speak for themselves. Chief Sporting Officer Max Eberl explained: „We have a clear plan for the goalkeeping set-up and are implementing it step by step: Manuel Neuer, Sven Ulreich and Jonas Urbig form a goalkeeping team in which everyone has their role and which is developing together.“
He added: „Manuel and Sven will continue to support Jonas on his way to becoming the future of FC Bayern. We are very much looking forward to a new season in this perfect constellation.“
Sporting Director Christoph Freund also praised the trio: „All three are super characters who together form a unique team, the likes of which you won’t find in this constellation at any other European club.“
