Transfer column: West Brom 'close to' Stewart deal, Aston Villa 'eye' Guirassy | OneFootball

West Brom are close to completing a seven-figure move for Falkirk striker Barney Stewart, while Aston Villa are being linked with Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy.

Talk of Guirassy agreeing a switch to Fenerbahce has been dismissed by his brother and agent, Karamba Guirassy, in comments to Sky Sports. The Guinea international has hit 56 goals in two seasons and is also on Tottenham’s radar.

Final details on Stewart’s transfer are understood to be being worked through. The 22-year-old is said to have travelled to the Midlands on Friday for talks and agreed terms on a four-year contract, with future add-ons expected for Falkirk.

Albion are also reportedly keen to bring in Celtic first-team coach Gavin Strachan. The 47-year-old has been a prominent figure behind the scenes since joining the club six years ago.

Villa are reportedly battling Manchester United for Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki as they assess potential replacements for Emi Martinez, who remains heavily linked with Juventus. The club have also been monitoring Real Sociedad keeper Alex Remiro.

Barcelona’s €30 million option, around £25.5m, to sign former Villa loanee Marcus Rashford has lapsed, so the England forward will officially return to Manchester United on 1 July, potentially opening the door for Villa. Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Newcastle United and Tottenham have also been cited as potential destinations, and Rashford is currently at the Club World Cup.
