Transfer falls through! Galatasaray pulls out of the Bayern Munich deal for Boey | OneFootball

FC Bayern continues to work on trimming its roster. One of the players on the chopping block is Sacha Boey, who no longer fits into Vincent Kompany’s plans for the team. However, a potential move back to his former club, Galatasaray, has apparently fallen through—and for an unusual reason.

Most recently, Galatasaray was considered a promising candidate to bring the French right back back to the club. According to information from the BILD podcast “Bayern Insider,” the Istanbul-based club was even willing to pay between 10 and 15 million euros for Boey.

Ultimately, however, the transfer did not go through. According to the report, the reason lies not in the clubs’ financial expectations, but in the roster regulations of the Turkish Süper Lig.

Galatasaray reportedly has only one spot left for a foreign player. However, the Turkish champions want to use that spot for a different position. For this reason, club officials decided against signing the 24-year-old.

For FC Bayern, this is another setback in its efforts to further trim the roster. Along with João Palhinha and Bryan Zaragoza, Boey is among the players for whom the Munich club is seeking a buyer this summer.

Bayern must continue to hope for interested parties

Sporting director Max Eberl recently confirmed publicly that Boey no longer has a place in the record champions’ plans. Accordingly, Bayern remains open to offers.

However, with the Galatasaray transfer falling through, one of the most obvious suitors is now off the table. The Frenchman previously played for the top Turkish club from 2021 to 2024, where he developed into one of the league’s best right backs before FC Bayern signed him.

It remains to be seen whether a new, financially willing suitor will emerge. Time is increasingly becoming a factor for the Munich club. After all, selling players is intended not only to reduce payroll costs but also to generate funds for further squad moves.

As things stand, however, FC Bayern must continue its search for a buyer for Sacha Boey.
