Real Madrid and England man Trent Alexander-Arnold has suffered a hamstring injury in his left leg during Tuesday evening's Champions League clash against Marseille.
"Following the medical tests carried out today [Wednesday] on our player Trent Alexander-Arnold by the Real Madrid medical team, he has been diagnosed with a hamstring injury in his left leg. His condition will be monitored", the La Liga side said in a statement.
Given this estimated downtime of six to eight weeks, meaning the Merengues defender will miss the derby against Atlético de Madrid and the clásico against Barcelona, scheduled for the 26th of October.
Notably, this means that the 26-year-old is now a doubt for when Madrid take on Alexander-Arnold's former club Liverpool in early November.
The news also means that Thomas Tuchel will not be able to select the player for the games against Wales and Latvia next month and potentially the November international break in which the Three Lions take on Serbia and Albania.
