La Cerámica came back to life for Villarreal’s first home game of the season during the Mare de Déu de Gràcia festivities, but a Dépor comeback ended it in boos and dejection.

From midday, peñas filled and a march led by Villarreal Fans took yellow through the streets. According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the club returned after three matches away and the town responded.

The Fan Zone opened at 19:00 with activities for all ages, with La Era del Pez launching the new Groc Talent edition. Submarí Groc were the featured peña and posed with the starting XI.

Summer works brought widespread re-seating, so many tried new spots. The return showcased upgrades, with new exits, improved access and a reshaped layout.

Before kick-off, Villarreal honoured emergency and security services who fought the Serra d’Espadà fires. Representatives walked out with the starting XI, then posed for a joint photo to warm applause.

A minute’s silence followed for subscribers and people close to the club who died last season.

Deportivo travelled in numbers and enlivened the away end, then celebrated the win with abandon. Many later joined Vila-real’s festivities.

The late turnaround frayed home tempers. Luiz Junior was whistled and fans left downcast, with Villarreal needing a response in the coming matches.
