Côte d’Ivoire became the first team to announce their full World Cup squad from Germany’s group. As expected, Yan Diomandé and Bazoumana Touré are included in the 26-man squad by Emerse Faé.
The 2023 African Cup of Nations winners are grouped with Germany, Ecuador and Curaçao. Both youngsters were impressive in their first tournament until Côte d’Ivoire were knocked out by Egypt in the quarter-final of this year's AFCON.
Diomandé is one of the highly-rated prospects right now, while Hoffenheim's Touré is also courted by Premier League teams. Defenders Odilon Kossounou (Bayer Leverkusen) and Evan Ndicka (Eintracht Frankfurt) have Bundesliga experience from the squad, while Elye Wahi is currently loaned by Frankfurt to Coupe de France finalists OGC Nice.
Côte d’Ivoire were eliminated from the group stage in all three of their previous World Cup participations. In the middle of games against Ecuador and Curaçao, they will face Germany in Toronto on June 20th.
