Nottingham Forest have loaned Tyler Bindon to Championship leaders Charlton Athletic for the season. According to Nottingham Post, the 21-year-old defender moves after spending pre-season with Oliver Glasner’s squad.

Bindon made 26 Championship appearances on loan at Sheffield United last term. He also featured for New Zealand at the FIFA World Cup.

He joins Nathan Jones’ side, who have won all three of their opening league matches to sit top of the table.

Bindon said it is a privilege to join Charlton, adding that the manager’s plans align with his own ambitions and that he hopes to contribute in a positive way.

Jones said he is delighted to bring in a player he has tracked for a long time and previously tried to sign, noting recent injuries required a reactive move. He believes Bindon’s pedigree, including a strong spell at Reading before his move to Forest, will strengthen the squad.

Managing director James Rodwell called Bindon an outstanding young player long on their radar. He said Collins Sichenje’s long-term injury prompted swift action to secure the deal and that Bindon’s style suits how the team aim to evolve this season.
