Aston Villa remain interested in signing Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea, but a loan deal for the forward is not an option.

Unai Emery is open to a reunion with Jackson having worked with the Senegalese striker at former club Villarreal.

Any move for Jackson would need to be a permanent transfer, however, following Aston Villa's signing of Alejandro Garnacho from Chelsea earlier this month.

Premier League rules dictate that clubs can only have a maximum of one player on loan from the same Premier League club, with Garnacho fulfilling that quota from Chelsea.

Jackson spent the 2025/26 season on loan at Bayern Munich and scored 11 goals in 34 games as the German side won a domestic double.

However, the Bundesliga champions opted against the opportunity to buy him permanently for £56.2m, after Jackson failed to make the required appearances to make the transfer mandatory.

Chelsea's asking price for Jackson this summer is unclear, though the forward is contracted at Stamford Bridge until 2033.Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Aston Villa are open to a deal, with The Villans set to reinvest their £117m windfall from selling Morgan Rogers to Chelsea.

Jackson is one of several strikers facing an uncertain future at Chelsea. Liam Delap, Marc Guiu and Emmanuel Emegha could all leave on loan or in permanenttransfers this summer.
