Jon Uriarte did not appear at Lezama, so the planned conversation with Athletic’s first team has been pushed back. According to El Correo, barring an unlikely change of plan it will not take place until next week.
Only one training session remains before Atlético’s visit tomorrow, and the day after a match is usually inactive. Iñaki Williams and Unai Simón had flagged the meeting after the game at Balaídos.
The dispute has grown since the squad showed their displeasure by staying silent in the mixed zone at Camp Nou. Captains have argued the issue goes beyond the scrapped player invitations, citing decisions in recent years that affect club staff, the women’s team and other Lezama departments.
Free-ticket withdrawals also reach employees, former players, ex-presidents, former directors and other groups long linked to the club.
Training proceeded as normal and Terzic involved almost a dozen Bilbao Athletic players, some of whom arrived later and waited on the bench before joining in. Álvaro Djaló, ill on Wednesday, did not take part, and Nico Serrano, still seeking a move after the Spanish window shut with some overseas markets open, was also absent.
Djaló was first to leave the complex, followed by Serrano, then those who trained. The one presence many had expected never came, there was no sign of Uriarte, and any attempt to cool tensions is on hold.
