Valencia deregister Dimitri Foulquier to open right-back slot, target Renzo Saravia | OneFootball

Valencia have taken the first step towards signing a right-back, deregistering Dimitri Foulquier after knee surgery ended his season.

According to Superdeporte, LaLiga no longer lists the Guadeloupe defender on the squad, leaving 24 registrations and a spare slot to add a free agent until the end of the campaign.

Corberán has confirmed the club would use that space in the market, and the preferred option is Renzo Saravia, an Argentine right-back who spent most of his career in South America and played last season for Atlético Mineiro.

Talks with Saravia are open but stuck on contract length. He wants more than one year, while Valencia propose a deal only until the end of the season, a short-term stop-gap in basketball style.

Right-back remains a problem area. Thierry is the only specialist, injury prone and short of continuity, while the fit alternative is Unai Núñez, strong defensively but a natural centre-back with limited attacking thrust.
