Vasco assembled an internal support network for forward David Corrêa, known as DVD, after he was targeted by warrants in Operação A Tropa, carried out by the Espírito Santo Civil Police, ahead of Wednesday’s Copa do Brasil tie at Vitória in Salvador.
According to PaponaColina, his main concern was the impact on his family. Alone at his Barra da Tijuca apartment when officers arrived, his phone was seized and he panicked because he did not know his mother’s number by heart to reassure her amid the media coverage.
After accompanying an inspection of his locker at CT Moacyr Barbosa alongside technical director Felipe Maestro, he went to the 14ª DP (Leblon) to give formal testimony.
In his official statement, he acknowledged knowing people named in the inquiry in his home state, but emphatically denied any involvement, connivance or participation in an interstate arms and narcotics trafficking scheme.
Investigators seized his phone solely for forensic checks on any exchanges with one suspect. The club’s legal team, which reviewed the deposition in full, states that the player has no implication in the offences under investigation.
Backed by the Vasco SAF board and cleared to play by Pedro Emanuel, he travelled with the squad to Barradão and remains fully involved in the team’s sporting commitments.
