Barcelona’s swift negotiations with Newcastle United and announcement of Anthony Gordon’s signing set an impression that the club were in a hurry to close down signings before the FIFA World Cup.
Since then, however, their activity has been on a clear and gradual decline. They have indeed been linked to players, but there has not been nearly as much progress as one would have expected.
The Julian Alvarez deal stalled owing to Atletico Madrid’s stubbornness and reactionary social media stance, while the Bernardo Silva deal seemingly stopped for Flick’s approval and the preliminary sale of an existing player.

As reported by El Chiringuito now, Bernardo Silva will be a new Barcelona player this summer, but no official announcement or agreement is expected this month.
Instead, he will be a Barcelona player in the month of July, and no progress is expected until after the World Cup. There is no doubt about the agreement, but it is a matter of time before it can be made official.
Flick, as matters stand, is said to have handed the transfer his approval and would be delighted to have Silva in his squad for next season. The player, for his part, is willing to even take a salary cut to sign for the Catalans.

While several fans appear against the signing of Bernardo Silva, citing the packed midfield, it is undeniable that the player will bring serious value to the squad.
For starters, the experience he has is something the Catalans’ young core direly lacks, and he could take up the mentoring and leading role that Robert Lewandowski played until last season.
Beyond that, however, Silva has serious value as a player who is almost always fit, of undeniable quality and capable of playing anywhere in midfield or even on the right wing to hand Lamine Yamal rest.
