Viery set for Fiorentina medical after €13m plus bonus deal with Gremio | OneFootball

Fiorentina will welcome Gremio defender Viery for his medical tests tomorrow, completing the transfer worth a reported €13m plus add-ons.

The 21-year-old is primarily a central defender, but can also play at left-back when required.

A product of the Gremio youth academy, he was promoted to the senior squad in February 2025 and so far this season has contributed two goals with one assist in 27 games.

Numerous clubs were interested in the player, including Nottingham Forest, LOSC, Juventus, Brighton and Hove Albion, Napoli and Bologna.

Fiorentina swooped in to surprise them all and secure an agreement worth €13m plus add-ons, in figures given by Sky Sport Italia.

It is reported that Viery will land on Italian soil on Tuesday in Rome, then travel to Florence and undergo his medical tests before putting pen to paper on a five-year contract.

This is the first major signing for Fiorentina since new coach Fabio Grosso was appointed to the bench.
