Aftenbladet reports that Viking FK have rejected an offer of around £11 million for Edvin Austbo from an unnamed bidder. The outlet also says several clubs from England, Germany, France and Denmark made approaches over the weekend, and a bidding war could develop by the summer.
Ontheminute.com previously linked Sunderland with the 20-year-old, with Aston Villa and Leeds United also credited with an interest. Bayer Leverkusen have since been mentioned among possible suitors.
Austbo enjoyed a breakout campaign last term, winning the Eliteserien Young Player of the Season and helping Viking to the title. Predominantly a left winger, he registered seven goals and eight assists in all competitions.
Fabrizio Romano has reported that Simon Adingra is close to joining AS Monaco on an initial €1 million loan with a €17 million option to buy, with visa and medical to follow. On that basis, Sunderland would receive about £866,000 initially and a further £14.8 million if the move becomes permanent.
Sky Sports reports that Sunderland are closing in on Anderlecht forward Nilson Angulo for an initial £15 million plus £2.5 million in add-ons. Progress is said to hinge on Adil Aouchiche moving permanently to Schalke after a loan at Aberdeen, which would free a foreign loan slot.
