André Villas-Boas underlined Porto’s discreet transfer approach. He denied progress on Famalicão midfielder Gustavo Sá and any Barcelona contact regarding Kiwior.
According to O Jogo, the club president spoke on the margins of ECO’s 10th anniversary event. He contrasted Porto with rivals and pointed to the low-profile signing of goalkeeper João Afonso from Santa Clara, presented this week, as evidence of their method.
On the new season, he said preparations are already under way, with anticipated ins and outs considered in advance of the market. He added that discussions are ongoing across the coaching staff, scouting, the sporting department and the presidency.
He said decisions are being taken to sustain Porto’s success from one campaign to the next. He noted that clubs who win the league seek medium and long-term stability, which he described as the hardest challenge, staying at the top and remaining a reference.
Villas-Boas added that Portuguese clubs must refound themselves each year. He said potential structural changes could arrive, and the intention is to keep any impact as small as possible.
