Vitor Roque has taken a notable step in his comeback from left ankle surgery, starting specific ball exercises at Palmeiras’ training base this week.

According to Globo.com, a club video on social media showed the forward, known as Tigrinho, completing low-intensity passes and finishes as part of his physio and reconditioning.

He also ran on the training pitch, which is currently under renovation and appears bare earth rather than the usual green.

The striker underwent surgery on 1 May to repair ligament damage in his left ankle. In recent days he has dispensed with crutches and the protective boot, indicating progress.

Palmeiras have granted the squad and staff a break until 21 June, the date of their return, but Vitor Roque has skipped holidays to continue treatment at the Academia de Futebol. The club’s Núcleo de Saúde e Performance views his evolution as positive.

Timelines are unchanged from the latest update, with the expectation that he will resume ball work on the grass in the first weeks after the squad report back.

The process is being handled cautiously, given ankle issues since the start of the season, including 40 days out after the Campeonato Paulista final due to pain.

The collective aim is for him to return without pain or restrictions after the World Cup pause. Palmeiras are next in action on 22 July, away to Coritiba, in the 19th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro.
