Vojvoda rests Gabigol and two more for Santos’ Brasileirão opener at Chapecoense | OneFootball

Santos will be without Gabigol, Adonis Frías and Mayke for Wednesday’s Brasileirão opener at Chapecoense, kick-off 20:00 Brasília time at Arena Condá. According to Globo.com, the trio have been rested with the Paulistão in mind and did not travel.

Gabigol recently sat out a match with tendinitis. He has no injury now, but is being managed to keep a steady run of games in the state competition. Frías and Mayke miss out as a precaution.

Head coach Juan Pablo Vojvoda had said he would rotate key players early in 2026 to avoid serious injuries. At the weekend Santos visit São Paulo at Morumbis and need a win to return to the Paulistão qualifying places.

A likely Santos XI is Gabriel Brazão in goal, a back four of Igor Vinicius, Zé Ivaldo, Luan Peres and Vini Lira, João Schmidt, Gabriel Menino and Zé Rafael in midfield, with Rollheiser, Barreal and Lautaro Diaz in attack.

Gustavo Henrique, Thaciano and Tiquinho Soares remain with the medical department and are also out of the trip to Santa Catarina.
