Ex-Blues boss has found a new home since April exit

Liam Rosenior revealed that he “wanted to send a message” after his Paris FC side beat Strasbourg in Ligue 1 on Saturday.

The former Chelsea boss is now back in France after his sacking at Stamford Bridge last term, which came in April after five consecutive defeats without scoring a single goal.

He was dismissed after just 106 days in charge, having taken over the reins from the departed Enzo Maresca, who himself was removed after a fallout with the Blues’ hierarchy.

Rosenior was installed as his long-term replacement, plucked from sister club Strasbourg, but he failed to even make it through his first season.

Now, he finds himself back in the French top flight, managing the capital’s other team, who are sat third in the table, unbeaten in their first five matches.

Rosenior came up against his old employers, and led his new side to a 2-1 victory at the Stade Jean-Bouin, thanks to goals from Ilan Kebbal and Pablo Pagis, while Moustapha Mbow’s late own goal set up a grandstand finale.

Paris clung on for all three points, which Rosenior celebrated enthusiastically in front of the travelling supporters that used to sing his name.

The ex-Chelsea manager explained afterwards that he had received abuse from the Strasbourg fans throughout the game, and wanted to fire back at them.

"[There was a small part of the Strasbourg] support who disrespect my family," he said post-match. "I understand the context of what they were saying. My bench were visibly upset.

"I want to make this very clear: a small section. Strasbourg is a fantastic football club, with great people who work for the club, and great people who support the club.

"For me to celebrate in that way was a message. A message to a group of people who never wanted me to be successful at that club. But I'm not going to say anymore than that."

Rosenior’s celebrations led to feisty scenes between players and staff on the pitch, with several confrontations occurring.

"The people in the club [Strasbourg] who know me know I've always been respectful, I've always wanted the best for that football club," Rosenior continued.

"I still do want the best for that football club.

"But when I heard the chants - I understand French, I understand the context, the language - that's a step too far.

"It's a wonderful football club, it's a great city, it's a club with great tradition, I've always protected those traditions.

"So for me to celebrate in the way that I did, was for many reasons. Many reasons."
