Werder defender ruled out for the season | OneFootball

Werder Bremen will be without Julian Malatini for the remainder of the season.

The Green-Whites confirmed on Tuesday that the centre-back suffered a syndesmosis ligament tear in his ankle during Sunday’s 2-0 defeat to Mainz and that he will miss the rest of the campaign as a result of the injury.

“It’s incredibly disappointing – not just for Werder, but above all for Julian,” said head coach Daniel Thioune. 

“He was just starting to find his rhythm and get regular football. We’ll support him as best we can through his recovery."

Malatini has featured in 11 matches for Werder this season.
