West Brom working on deal for French right-back Nolan Galves | OneFootball

West Brom are working on a deal to sign 23-year-old right-back Nolan Galves from Ligue 2 side Rodez as they seek to bolster their defence.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, Albion hope to make progress in the coming days with talks ongoing, while Southampton are also pushing and the player is set to choose his destination.

There are European claims that both Albion and Southampton have agreements in place with Rodez, leaving the final decision with Galves.

Head coach James Morrison has said the club are working extremely hard to add before the Championship season, and Galves would continue a defensive rebuild that saw Connor Townsend return to The Hawthorns on Friday.

QPR and Millwall have also been linked this summer, along with Young Boys and OGC Nice. Galves made 36 appearances for Rodez last season and registered eight assists, including one in the promotion and relegation play-off.

If he joins, Galves would be Albion’s sixth signing of the summer and their third defensive addition, after Carter Pinnington arrived from Liverpool last month and Townsend re-signed.

Albion still want cover in wide attacking areas, with Mikey Johnston their only recognised senior winger, and they retain interest in bringing back Danny Imray. Pre-season continued on Saturday with a 4-1 win at Shrewsbury Town, while another XI had earlier lost 3-1 to Notts County in a behind-closed-doors friendly.
