West Brom’s Max O’Leary wins second Ireland cap as new deal offered | OneFootball

ExpressAndStar.com reports that West Bromwich Albion have offered goalkeeper Max O’Leary a new contract. He won his second Republic of Ireland cap.

O’Leary and Jayson Molumby each played 74 minutes in Spain. Ireland beat Grenada 5-0 after a dominant second half.

The January arrival from Bristol City posted seven clean sheets in 17 outings, 16 in the Championship, as James Morrison’s side secured safety. He kept another shutout for Ireland, who did not qualify for this summer’s World Cup. The offer was confirmed on Friday.

Molumby collected his 35th cap and has been named in the 24-man squad to face Qatar on May 28 and Canada on June 6. O’Leary has not been included for those friendlies. A youthful team struck five after the interval, debutant Jack Moylan hitting a hat-trick and Tom Cannon adding two.

It remains to be seen whether O’Leary agrees terms and if Morrison’s staff view him as next season’s number one. Academy graduate Josh Griffiths remains in place, while Joe Wildsmith will be released at the end of his contract this summer.
