West Ham United striker Callum Wilson has agreed a one-year contract extension, according to the Telegraph.

The Englishman was close to leaving the Hammers during the winter transfer window but has since established himself as a key player under manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

The 34-year-old was expected to be behind January striker signings Taty Castellanos and Pablo Felipe in the pecking order.

However, Felipe is currently injured, allowing Wilson to prove his quality as West Ham attempt to avoid relegation.

Both parties are now willing to continue beyond the summer, and an agreement in principle has been reached to extend his deal until 2027.

The former Newcastle United star is the third-highest scorer of players currently playing in the Premier League, with only Mohamed Salah and Erling Braut Haaland scoring more than Wilson’s 93.

He has played 263 league games in the English top-flight, weighing in with 26 assists, and his quality and experience will come in handy if West Ham stay up.

The Hammers are 18th in the league table ahead of the final nine league games, but only a superior goal difference puts 17th-place Nottingham Forest ahead of them.

Tottenham Hotspur are only a point ahead in 16th place.

West Ham will fancy their chances of staying up given their current form, and Wilson will be looking to play a huge role in their relegation battle.

He has bagged five goals and one assist in 24 league games this term and will hope to add more in the coming weeks.
