What Transfers Chelsea Need To Sort On Deadline Day As Alonso Eyes Fernandez Clarity | OneFootball

The summer transfer window is coming to an end, but there's still lots to do.

Xabi Alonso's Chelsea overhaul needs to be completed on Tuesday as the 2026 summer transfer window comes to a close.

What a summer it's been for Chelsea. A relentless window for the Todd Boehly-Clearlake Capital ownership, who have pretty much overhauled a large portion of the squad, as well as the managerial structure, with Alonso given the manager title rather than head coach.

Chelsea have been aggressive in the market this summer, signing experienced and proven Premier League quality. It's already been noticeable at the beginning of the season - Chelsea have won both of their league matches.

With all the money spent on new arrivals, Chelsea have been working hard to ensure they aren't stuck with players, unlike previous summers, when they had to keep unwanted players until the January transfer window.

Robert Sanchez is set to finalise his departure. He will join Serie A side Como on a season-long loan. The Spaniard will reunite with former teammate Trevoh Chalobah, who joined the club on a permanent deal earlier this summer.

Tosin Adarabioyo is on the verge of joining Tottenham Hotspur on a permanent deal. It's believed a deal worth an initial £7 million plus add-ons has been agreed. He will depart after two years at the club. A medical is scheduled for Tuesday.

Mykhailo Mudryk is set to join Spurs after Tosin. He will reunite with Roberto De Zerbi on an initial loan, but Fabrizio Romano reports that the deal includes an option to buy next summer. It's suggested to be set at £75m.

Dario Essugo is attracting loan interest from the Premier League, including from newly promoted Hull City. Strasbourg has been earmarked as a possible destination, but the midfielder would prefer to stay in England.

Marc Guiu will complete his permanent move to RB Leipzig after undergoing his medical.

The big departure of the day could be Enzo Fernandez. Manchester City have now opened club-to-club communications to try to finalise a deal for the 25-year-old. After their failed pursuit of Liverpool's Cody Gakpo, Man City are fully focused on reuniting Fernandez with Enzo Maresca.

With Fernandez's possible departure, Chelsea are looking to add in midfield. AS Roma's Manu Kone and AS Monaco's Lamine Camara have been linked, but it remains unclear who the Blues will target if they need to replace Fernandez.

But most importantly, Chelsea will get clarity either way. Fernandez either leaves, as is his wish, or Alonso keeps him, and the noise temporarily - until January - comes to an end.

Other departures are also being finalised, including Shim Mheuka, who is set to go out on loan after agreeing to a new long-term deal at Stamford Bridge.

Meanwhile, Jamie Gittens is being pursued by Roma. Whether they can convince Chelsea to agree a loan deal remains to be seen.
