Wolves have been relegated after eight years in the Premier League, while Aston Villa finished fourth to claim a Champions League spot. Record distributions for both have now been outlined.

The Athletic reports that more than £three billion will be shared among clubs, the highest total in Premier League history.

Rob Edwards’ men finished bottom after spending much of the season there, and Wolves’ payment is £117.7m.

That is about £1.6m less than 19th-placed Burnley’s £118.1m, and Wolves could have overtaken the Clarets on the final day had they won at Turf Moor.

Villa will receive £182.6m after ending the campaign in fourth, following their victory over Man City on the last day.

The increased pot is driven by overseas television deals, with international broadcast revenue said to make up around half of payouts. This season also marked a new domestic broadcast cycle, with more matches shown live in the UK.

Relegated clubs receive parachute payments, but these are far below Premier League levels, so Wolves head into the Championship without top-flight riches.
