Bayern Munich marked their latest Bundesliga crown after a 4-2 win over Stuttgart by parading a cockatoo statue, the team’s unlikely talisman.
According to L'Équipe, celebrations were kept low key to stay focused on upcoming Champions League and German Cup duties. The players skipped the beer shower and chose not to lift the trophy, instead showcasing the statue, which also appeared on their title T-shirts.
The story began in spring 2025. Bayern were crowned while watching their chasers on TV at Munich’s Käfer restaurant, where a white cockatoo statuette sat. In the euphoria, the players took to it, turning it into a dressing room good luck charm.
The tale amused the club. Vincent Kompany declined to name the player who had taken the bird, and the restaurant owner later gifted the statue to Bayern.
Since then it has become an unofficial mascot and a symbol of Kompany’s side, travelling to games and appearing at every victory celebration. The cockatoo is native to the western Pacific islands.
