David Storch is open to changing the Sheffield Wednesday badge if his family complete their takeover of the Yorkshire club.
Sheffield Wednesday are hoping for brighter days in the future if the Storch family can complete their takeover of the club.
The Owls’ fans have had to endure a lot over the past 12 months, which includes genuine fears that the club may cease to exist.
Therefore, news of the Storch family emerging as the preferred bidders was hugely encouraging given their wealth and background, and they are now finalising the deal with the EFL, with hopes an announcement can be made prior to the end of the campaign.

Given the situation the Storch family will inherit at Hillsborough, many fans will understand that patience is required in terms of giving them time to get things right on the pitch.
It has been reported that they will be starting next season with a points deduction, as well as having restrictions on the wages they can pay, even though discussions are taking place with the EFL over the latter.
Nevertheless, it highlights the difficulties facing Wednesday next season, and returning to the Championship at the first attempt already seems like a huge ask.
Despite that, the Storch family are sure to have plenty of backing from the Wednesday fans, and it appears they are doing their bit to try and listen to what the supporters want.
That’s after the Sheffield Star revealed that David Storch has ‘signalled an intention’ to change Wednesday’s club crest back to the ‘Retro Owl’, which currently featured on the third kit, and is very popular with fans.
Any change would require EFL approval, and the Yorkshire outfit would also need to show that the ‘majority’ of the fans are on board with a change, but that’s not thought to be a problem in this case.
So, Storch will see this as a great chance to show he has listened to the fans, and make a change that they will see as a positive.
As outlined above, Wednesday fans have been through a lot, and they will know that it’s a long journey to get back to where they feel the club belongs.
Obviously, to do that, investment will be required in the squad, and the main priority will always be to build a team for Henrik Pedersen that can be competitive and flourish on the pitch.

But, the Storch family also need to build bridges in repairing the relationship between the fans and the club. It’s not their fault, but they must listen to fans' opinions, and do all they can to unite the supporters, as that will make Wednesday more of a force moving forward.
That’s something that Dejphon Chansiri certainly didn’t do, and alienating those who come to watch week in, week out is never a good idea. He treated them with contempt, and it contributed to the overall negativity that engulfed the club for such a long time.
The early signs are positive that the Storch family won’t do that, and changing the badge would be an example of them understanding what the fans want from their club, so it would be a real positive for Sheffield Wednesday if this does go through ahead of the new season.
