Why Iliman Ndiaye and Jonathan Rowe deals hand OM a windfall | OneFootball

Marseille are set to bank nearly eight million euros from the moves of Iliman Ndiaye and Jonathan Rowe, thanks to sell-on clauses and FIFA solidarity, according to L'Équipe. Ndiaye has joined Manchester City from Everton, while Rowe is moving from Bologna to Atalanta on a paid loan with an obligation to buy.

It mirrors recent trickle-down gains for other French clubs from Premier League trading. In OM’s case, the Ndiaye move triggers a sell-on clause agreed when he left in 2023.

Sold by OM in July 2023 for 19 million euros plus two million in bonuses, the Senegal forward had a 10% resale profit clause. With City paying nearly 70 million euros, OM will collect close to five million, slightly more via the 0.5% solidarity payment as he was under 23 in Marseille.

Rowe’s switch to Atalanta comprises a five million euro loan fee and a 30 million euro obligatory purchase. He arrived at OM from Norwich in August 2024 for a final 14.5 million euros, then was sold last summer to Bologna for 17.5 million with a one million obligatory bonus if he was later sold for more than 20 million, plus 10% of any profit. That sale followed the much-discussed altercation at Roazhon Park with Adrien Rabiot.

On that basis, OM can add at least 2.65 million euros once Atalanta’s option is executed and the transfer becomes permanent. The income could fall in the 2026-27 or 2027-28 accounts, depending on the Italian clubs’ conditions.
