Italy take on Turkey in what will be an important UEFA Nations League game today for the Azzurri. They had lost their opening game rather convincingly to Belgium and now have a chance to prove detractors wrong.

The focus today will be on a host of players but the Esposito brothers will take special limelight.

the duo is starting together for the Azzurri and have, as a result, rewritten history.

The last time two brothers played for Italy was back in 2000, when Simone Inzaghi and Pippo Inzaghi took the field together against England in a friendly. But the duo didn’t start together, which makes the Esposito case all the more interesting.

They are, in fact, matching a 111-year-long record. The last time two brothers started for Italy was back in 1915, when Aldo and Luigi Cavenini featured against Switzerland. The two also scored in that game, which ended 9-4.

In fact, it is now a fact that all three Esposito brothers have played for Italy. Salvatore Esposito made his debut for the Azzurri in 2022, featuring under Roberto Mancini against England.
