Marvin Ducksch's immediate future with Blues has been debated for many months now
Birmingham City's transfer activity under the ownership of Knighthead Capital Management has certainly raised eyebrows over time, with the club not exactly holding back in their ambitions of reaching the Premier League.
The club's American investors have heavily backed Chris Davies when it comes to making the required changes to his squad throughout five transfer window.
However, that isn't to say that all the dealings involving the West Midlands outfit throughout said timeframe have turned out to be a success, especially during the 2025/26 Championship season.
Birmingham welcomed a plethora of high-profile names to their squad, which previously broke the EFL's all-time points record as they romped to the League One title in 2024/25, leaving many predicting the club to have finished in the play-offs.
That, ultimately, didn't prove to be the case and spending was reined in throughout the most recent window, although Davies' side have made an encouraging start to the season as they sit 10th on 11 points.
Even though the summer window only closed on September 1st, there has already been plenty of discourse when it comes to the long-term futures of some within the Blues ranks.

Marvin Ducksch is, arguably, the most high-profile name falling into said category for Birmingham, just 14 months after he signed from Werder Bremen for £1.75m.
The 32-year-old was able to rectify his slow start to last season with 11 goals in all competitions, but has split opinions amongst supporters in B9 ever since he was heavily fined and banned from driving for 14 months after causing a three-way vehicle collision close to the club's training ground in April, whilst also being the subject of heavy exit talk.
As such, Football League World's Birmingham City fan pundit, Jason Moore, believes the German is the first player who will be seeking a winter transfer.
“Marvin Ducksch is 100% the player that will be seeking a move, and it's a player that I want to leave," he told FLW.
“He embarrassed the club with his drink-driving incident. Some people probably say I need to get over it, but not for me, and he's openly said he doesn't want to be here, so why on earth is he still here?
“I think it's really poor from the club, the fact that we didn't get rid of him. I think he's poor from his agent that they didn't find him a move," Moore added.
“I backed him last season because he scored some goals, but let's be honest, he hasn't been good enough. Marvin Ducksch is the one that needs to find himself a move.
"Get his wages off the books and get him out of the club, because you can just tell when he comes on for bit-part appearances, he just doesn't want to be there and his attitude looks like it stinks.”

As the summer window rumbled on, it was suggested that Birmingham could have been willing to accept offers as low as €500,000 to offload Ducksch's wages from the books at St. Andrew's after the striker admitted he was open to a return to his native Germany.
Even though a desired exit, at one stage, seemed unlikely as the window wound down, it emerged post-Deadline Day that he had been the subject of interest from La Liga side, Valencia, who were reportedly able to agree an initial deal with the Championship side.
However, Ducksch was later left bemused as the move collapsed due to his involvement in the matchday squad for the draw with Southampton later that night, meaning he remains in the Second City for the time being.

Since then, Ducksch has barely featured for Blues, even though Chris Davies later praised the attacker for his conduct on the training field in particular.
The experienced figure has only made four league appearances this term, all of which have come from the bench, averaging just 12 minutes per game in the process.
