The Daily Mail’s Kieran Gill is well connected at Chelsea, and his weekly Chelsea Confidential pieces are always full of good information.
So Blues fans who are keen to see Liam Rosenior get sacked won’t like what they see there today. The first item is all about how safe Rosenior is in the job despite three really damaging defeats in a row.
“Rosenior was appointed two months ago. He signed a six-and-a-half-year contract,” Gill points out.
“We are told he maintains a good relationship with those upstairs at Chelsea, as he did when managing Strasbourg. Agents of players say the squad like Rosenior and are behind him.”
All of that may be true, and we’d assume Rosenior is indeed safe for now. But we’ve seen so many times over the years how quickly things can fall apart. Enzo Maresca looked safe until the end of the season, and was gone a couple of months later. We still haven’t even reached the end of that season yet!
Even Gill raises doubts about Rosenior’s future if Chelsea miss out on the Champions League places, although other sources have claimed he would be safe.
It looks like Rosenior’s job is safe even if Chelsea don’t qualify for the Champions League this season.
There is some good news – Chelsea are apparently hopeful about the injury Trevoh Chalobah picked up.
