Both teams enter Wednesday averaging a goal per game on offense. The Los Angeles Galaxy has just one win to their credit while the Colorado Rapids have six.

The defending MLS Cup winners sit at the bottom of the Western Conference standings as the Rapids are currently in ninth place, vying for a potential wild card or playoff spot.

We have seen the Los Angeles Galaxy play down to their competition. They have lost to Sporting Kansas City, 1-0, in a historic epic fail. In addition, they lost to Real Salt Lake earlier in the season, 2-0.

There are two reasons why the LA Galaxy can't fall behind during the 70th meeting all-time against the Colorado Rapids.

The LA Galaxy defense is far more inferior than the Rapids' defense.

While both teams average a goal a game on offense, the Los Angeles Galaxy allow a league worst of a little more than two goals a game. They have given up 39 total scores in 18 games. Only DC United (38) is that close with 38, they play in the Eastern Conference.

Colorado (6-4-8) has given up 25 goals this year. That is 14 less than the LA Galaxy. However, with seven goals and three assists to date, Djordje Mihailovic has been a difference maker for the Rapids.

Following a pair of 1-0 wins against Real Salt Lake and St. Louis City SC, the Rapids have dropped three in a row. After the 2-1 loss to the Portland Timbers, Colorado has been shutout their past two games.

This is the chance for the LA Galaxy to capitalize after failing to win their second game of the season two weeks ago when they faced St. Louis on the road.

Statistics aren't in favor of the LA Galaxy

Anytime the Los Angeles Galaxy have scored multiple goals in a game, they have lost or tied their next game.

The last time the six-time MLS Cup champions took the field is the only regular season game where they scored more than two goals. The exception was on March 12 when the Galaxy played Herediano in the second leg of the Concacaf Champions Cup Round of 16.

Seeing how this season has gone, it's hard pressed to imagine the LA Galaxy scoring more than one goal in this contest. Their offense has already been shutout seven times this season. Two of those came in the team's first three games of the season.

If the LA Galaxy look to avoid their 13th loss and want to add another three points in the MLS Western Conference standings, then they need to get out ahead and score fast against the Rapids.

How to Watch the LA Galaxy vs. Colorado Rapids Game
