An insight into the reasoning behind the decision of Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick to withdraw Marc Casadó early in the club’s meeting with Getafe has been provided.
Barcelona of course marked their return to action on Saturday night, making the trip to the Estadio Coliseum for a La Liga clash.
The aforementioned Casadó was afforded a starting berth in Madrid, from his customary berth at the base of midfield.
With just 45 minutes on the clock, however, the Spanish international was hooked from proceedings without explanation.
Murmurs surrounding a potential injury problem for Casadó in turn quickly spread online amongst those of a Blaugrana persuasion.
Such fears, however, have since been quelled.
As confirmed by Barca insider Javier Miguel of Diario AS, Casadó’s half-time departure from the action last night was a purely tactical call.
This comes amid the understanding that Hansi Flick and co. considered Frenkie de Jong as being a better fit up against Getafe’s engine room ranks.
