Rangers and Celtic are now in real danger of missing out on Frosinone’s Fares Ghedjemis, as Monaco ‘will return’ with a new bid for him soon after seeing an initial offer rejected.

The Gers have beefed up their focal point of the attack with the arrival of Lawrence Shankland, but they want to replenish their wide attacking options.

Derek McInnes’ side have made a stumbling start to their new campaign, as they failed to beat Dundee United on the opening day.

On Thursday, they were handed a 2-1 loss by Jagiellonia Bialystok in the first leg of the qualifying round of the Europa League.

They are chasing PSV Eindhoven winger Couhaib Driouech, but Celta Vigo are currently threatening to hijack the deal.

Celtic are also working to bring in Haissem Hassan from Real Oviedo and are only a few details away from securing the Egyptian.

However, Celtic and Rangers have not been able to secure their targets yet, and have had their eyes on Algerian winger Ghedjemis.

Ligue 1 side Monaco are also very much interested in the 23-year-old winger, and have now had a bid rejected by the Serie A side.

Les Rouge et Blanc, though, are not ready to back down, and ‘will return’ to Frosinone for Ghedjemis with an improved offer, according to French sports daily L’Equipe.

Monaco’s first bid was €7m with €2m additional in bonuses, which Frosinone rejected, and they are braced for new offers for their star man.

It is suggested that Celtic and Rangers both put offers of around €10m in, which were also turned down.

Frosinone are not keen on parting ways with the Algerian star, but he looks set for a move away from the Italian outfit.

With Monaco picking up the pace in the transfer hunt, Ghedjemis could find himself playing his football in Ligue 1 in the new campaign.
