Willy Gnonto’s Instagram post has suggested he may have played his last Leeds United home game, following the club’s final home win of the season, 1-0 against Brighton.
Leedsunited.news reports that Freiburg are pushing to sign the Italy international this summer, and that Leeds prefer a permanent sale, with the winger said to be frustrated.
Under Daniel Farke his role has receded. He shared images captioned “Elland Road. Thank You”, with team-mates Joel Piroe and Pascal Struijk responding with emotional emojis.
The numbers underline that slide. Gnonto has made just four league starts and played 419 Premier League minutes, returning zero goals and one assist. Brenden Aaronson has four goals and five assists, while Noah Okafor has eight goals.
The decline appears tied more to tactics than to personality. Farke’s move towards a 3-5-2 has altered the type of attacker required.
Taken together, reduced minutes, a changing system and rising interest elsewhere make his post feel like a genuine hint that his Leeds spell could be nearing its end.
