Windass strikes as Wrexham climb to sixth

Wrexham beat Oxford United 1-0 at the Kassam Stadium to rise from seventh to sixth in the Championship.
In the 40th minute, Josh Windass drove a right-footed shot from outside the box into the bottom left corner, set up by Sam Smith.
Jamie Cumming kept Oxford United in the contest, palming away Callum Doyle's close-range effort in the first minute of first half stoppage time. After the restart, Danny Ward preserved the lead, saving Michał Helik's header (59.) and later smothering Aidomo Emakhu's low strike in the third minute of second half stoppage time.
Early in the second half, Matt Bloomfield's side injected energy with Aidomo Emakhu and Will Vaulks, while Stanley Mills forced a save as the hosts pushed for an equaliser.
Oxford United registered 18 attempts, with four on target, and won 10 corners. Wrexham controlled 55% possession and produced four efforts on target from 11 attempts.
Next, Oxford United host Sheffield Wednesday. Wrexham visit Coventry City.
