The Wolves 1877 Trust said in a statement that the future is not bright or clear and urged Wolves to learn from mistakes after relegation.

Relegation was sealed after Saturday’s defeat to Leeds and West Ham’s draw with Crystal Palace, capping a campaign largely spent in the bottom three.

Chairman Nathan Shi issued a message soon after, saying the club was ready to respond in a bid to bounce straight back.

The trust said promotion demands the club be run differently with supporter concerns heeded. It argued that under Fosun the club returns to the Championship with a neglected stadium, frayed fan relations and a marginalised council, and that confidence in the owners has fallen for some. It added that views range from giving Fosun a second chance to calls for a sale.

It called for a double drop to be avoided at all costs and urged consultation with those involved in the 2011/12 and 2012/13 relegations. Senior hires should have English football experience, and players with domestic knowhow must not be replaced by signings untested in England.

Off the pitch, it wants promised ticket-price cuts delivered, arguing pricing has kept Molineux from filling regularly. Attendances may dip in the Championship, but lower prices could bring back supporters.

With a fan forum planned after Jeff Shi’s exit, the trust welcomed progress while saying more is needed. It also praised Wolves Women, who could clinch promotion to Women’s Super League two this weekend at Halifax, calling it a much-needed lift.
