Palmeiras are close to confirming their second signing for 2026, with an agreement in place to bring Jhon Arias from Wolverhampton.
Speaking on Friday ahead of facing Chelsea on Saturday at 12:00 Brasília time, head coach Rob Edwards said the clubs have reached full agreement and Arias will no longer play for the Premier League side. He added the move should be finalised in the coming days.
The Colombian has made 29 appearances for Wolves, scoring two goals and providing one assist.
Edwards explained that the sale fits a strategic plan amid a difficult campaign, with the club virtually relegated, and said the board will need to cut costs and raise funds for next season.
He wished Arias well and stressed the decision was taken in the best interests of Wolverhampton.
Palmeiras have tracked Arias since his Fluminense days, but then-president Mário Bittencourt declined to open talks at the time.
