Wolves may be in the market for a left-back this summer, and they should target Sheffield United's Harrison Burrows, who is on the radar of West Ham.

Wolves have had a positive start to the transfer window, with Andre signing a new contract and Kieran Trippier set to join Rob Edwards’ side.

Those deals will be seen as statements of intent by Wanderers, although it’s evident that a lot more work needs to be done before the new season starts in August.

Like all relegated clubs, Wolves will also need to sell players to cover for the drop in revenue, and a host of individuals have been linked with a move away.

Edwards will have some players that he wants to stay, but, in some cases, player power rules, and Wolves will decide to cash in, with the boss making it clear that he only wants players who are fully committed to the club.

So, it’s hard to predict exactly who will leave Molineux in the coming weeks and months, but two players who will attract interest are Hugo Bueno and David Moller Wolfe.

Wolves face battle to retain left-back duo ahead of Championship

Bueno is one of few Wolves players to emerge with any credit this season, even if he hasn’t exactly been brilliant.

Nevertheless, the Spaniard is still a good player, who has shown he can cope in the Premier League, and, like all modern day full-backs, he is a threat going forward with his pace and crossing ability.

It has been claimed that Newcastle are tracking Bueno, which gives an indication to his reputation in the game, so if a suitable offer arrives, he may want to return to the top flight.

If Bueno did depart, Wolves fans would hope to keep Wolfe. Yet, as outlined above, it’s not as simple as that, and his situation is complicated by the World Cup.

The Norwegian international joined with a good reputation from AZ Alkmaar, but he spent most of the campaign behind Bueno.

Despite that, Roma made an offer of just under £7m for Wolfe in January, which again shows that he is seen as a good player. If the Italians come back in for Wolfe, or another club of that standing, it will be difficult for Wolves to convince him to stay in the Championship.

A good World Cup with Norway, where Wolfe is certain to start, will only raise his profile, particularly if the dark horses do go far in the tournament.

Harrison Burrows could be ideally suited to Wolves next season

Following on from that, Wolves need to have plans in place for the prospect of losing both left-backs, so they will be looking at the market.

And, one standout option is Harrison Burrows, with FLW exclusively revealing that West Ham are monitoring the Sheffield United man ahead of his potential exit from the Steel City this summer.

The 24-year-old has been at Bramall Lane for the past two years after joining from Peterborough, and he has been a shrewd bit of business for the Blades.

Burrows was brilliant in his first season at the club, scoring six goals and registering the same number of assists, as Sheffield United lost the play-off final.

He was a constant threat down the left flank with his energy and drive, and Burrows’ quality on the ball was key to the way the team played, and with his set-piece delivery.

Whilst last season was more difficult, for Burrows and Sheffield United, he still had nine goal contributions (five goals, four assists) and played a big role for the team when Chris Wilder returned.

That gives an indication of the type of player Burrows is, with his attacking output a major weapon for the team he plays for. With Wolves expected to be a more dominant side, they will require that from their full-backs.

In Kieran Trippier, who is expected to join, Wolves will have a right-back that has outstanding delivery, and whilst Burrows isn’t the same calibre of player, his crossing ability is similar.

Having two full-backs with such excellent ability on the ball would be massive for Edwards, and they’re the sort of players that strikers would love to play with as they know they will get consistent, early balls into the box.

There is a chance that Wolves will come up against low-blocks regularly next season, so they must have different ways of creating, and quality from out wide can help against a packed defence.

In an ideal world, Wolves would keep hold of one of Bueno or Wolfe, who should be more than capable of starring in the Championship.

But, there is a real chance both will depart, and, if they do, beating West Ham to the signature of Burrows would be another significant move by Wolves.
