Sean Dyche has said that Kieran Trippier is the best player he has worked with, with the right-back having joined Wolves this summer.
After an embarrassing Premier League campaign that resulted in relegation, there is a lot of pressure on Wolves to bounce back this season.
Several key figures have already paid the price for the mistakes that left Wolves in this position, with boss Vitor Pereira departing after a terrible start, whilst Domenico Teti lost his job after an incredibly poor transfer window.
More importantly, chairman Jeff Shi has been replaced by Nathan Shi, who is no relation, and, in a surprising twist to some, he made the call to sack Rob Edwards, after he managed just three wins in 27 games.
With Cesar Peixoto now in place, it’s a fresh start for Wolves, although there is an understanding that the Portuguese, or whoever was in charge, needs serious backing, as the squad is simply lacking in so many departments.

To their credit, Wolves have started very well on that front. Andre has agreed a new contract despite relegation, and the club have completed high-profile deals to sign Kieran Trippier and Raul Jimenez on free transfers.
Both players are expected to be key for Wanderers moving forward, and bringing them to Molineux is considered a real coup, as they had both made big contributions in the Premier League last season.
Trippier’s arrival will be particularly welcome, as right-back has been a problem position for Wolves since Nelson Semedo left the club.
Jackson Tchatchoua has failed to impress, Pedro Lima is still learning as a player, Matt Doherty has been released and Rodrigo Gomes excels further up the pitch.
So, despite relegation, Wolves fans will unanimously agree that they will be starting the season in the Championship with a much better player for that role than they had in the Premier League, which says a lot about their previous recruitment.
Of course, everyone knows all about Trippier, as he has won over 50 caps for England, as well as playing for Burnley, Tottenham, Atlético Madrid and Newcastle, so he needs no introduction.
However, some may not appreciate just how good Trippier has been, but one man who has worked with him, Sean Dyche, was clear of the qualities that the right-back boasts.
That’s after he told talkSPORT Trippier is the best player he has ever managed, which is quite the claim considering he has been at Watford, Burnley, Everton and Nottingham Forest, with the vast majority of his career having been spent in the Premier League.
Trippier was key to Dyche’s success at Turf Moor, with his performances eventually convincing Spurs to sign the defender, who was part of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad that reached the Champions League final.
This is good for Wolves fans to hear, as whilst they have seen Trippier play, including against their team, it’s nice to get an insight from someone who worked with him on a day-to-day basis.

Obviously, the 35-year-old is no longer the same player that was constantly up and down the flank for Dyche, but he is still a very capable defender, and someone who has so much quality in his right foot - which the ex-Everton chief talked up.
It was also noticeable that Dyche praised Trippier’s character, and that is another reason why Wolves fans were so happy to see him brought in.
From the outside, it has often looked like this Wolves side lacked leaders. They often concede goals in quick succession, they lack organisation at times, and players’ confidence drops when things go wrong.
That was a negative trait mentioned by Gary O’Neil, as well as Edwards, and the fact the first two signings of the summer are experienced players speaks volumes.
In Trippier, Wolves have got someone who knows the league and can help run the dressing room, whether he is officially named as club captain or not.
After Edwards’ dismissal, there was a suggestion he could look to depart, but, pleasingly for Wolves, those rumours were shut down.
