Wolves are expected to send Tolu Arokodare on loan this summer, a move that has split supporters. According to ExpressAndStar.com, Trabzonspor have tabled an offer that is being discussed.
An exit feels the likeliest route after a below-par season and internal issues last term.
Wolves paid close to £24 million for Arokodare on a four-year deal with an option of a further year. With just three Premier League goals, a sale now would mean either a hefty fee or a sizeable loss, hard to justify straight after relegation while targeting promotion.
Transfer fees are amortised, so his book value this summer is likely around £18 million. Matching that appears unlikely, whereas a loan that restores form could lift his market price and protect value.
A season in Türkiye could suit him. By next summer his book value will be lower, and if he scores regularly Wolves may secure a fee above book value, registering profit even if below £24 million. Coverage of wages by the loan club would further help.
He has three years left, plus an optional extra year, so Wolves can be patient. Fabio Silva offers precedent, ending multiple loans with a move to Borussia Dortmund worth up to £23 million that booked as profit. With Squad Cost Rules replacing Profit and Sustainability in the Championship, a big early hit still looks unlikely.
