Wolves have a verbal agreement to sign free agent Kieran Trippier on a two-year deal, with an option for a third, as part of a major rebuild.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, head coach Rob Edwards has been integral to talks with the 35-year-old, who became a free agent after his final season with Newcastle United, amid rival interest from England and abroad.
Trippier will undergo a medical after his post-season holiday, and is set to become their first addition of the summer. Supporters have largely hailed the move, viewing his experience and leadership as a coup.
Wolves plan significant changes, targeting know-how and character. They have shown interest in bringing striker Raul Jimenez back as they rebalance for a Championship promotion push. The agreement follows Brazilian midfielder Andre signing a new contract to 2030, committing to stay in the second tier.
Right-back Jackson Tchatchoua is expected to depart after a difficult first year following his £10 million move. Joao Gomes is in talks with Atletico Madrid, with further exits anticipated after a miserable top-flight campaign.
Trippier came through Manchester City, then moved to Burnley before four seasons at Spurs, where he broke into England’s senior side. He won La Liga with Atletico Madrid in 2020/21 and the Carabao Cup with Newcastle in 2024/25, and was a Champions League runner-up with Spurs. Capped 54 times between 2017 and 2024, his only England goal was a free-kick against Croatia in the 2018 World Cup semi-final, which ended 2-1.
