Wolves have begun preparations for next season in the Championship after relegation, with scouts attending a game in Portugal at the weekend. A Bola reports that club representatives were at Porto v Alverca on Saturday. Record also reports Wolves had scouts in attendance.
Porto won 1-0, a result that secured the league title for the 31st time.
It is unclear who the visitors were monitoring. Alverca players could be more realistic targets given Wolves' relegation, with Porto footballers likely to be harder to prise away. Even so, Wolves did add Ruben Neves and Willy Boly in 2017 while in the Championship.
Alverca's line-up included two former Wolves players. Chiquinho joined the club last summer. Bastien Meupiyou also moved there last summer after signing for Wolves in 2024 without making a first-team appearance.
When announcing Meupiyou's sale, Wolves said they retained a clause that would allow them to re-sign the defender, so a return could be explored. There was no suggestion of a buy-back clause in Chiquinho's exit update. Other Alverca players who may have been on the radar include Mateus Mendes Figueiredo and Lincoln.
