Paris Saint-Germain is eyeing a defensive overhaul as the club faces significant challenges at the back. With Milan Škriniar potentially leaving and Presnel Kimpembe still working to regain full fitness, PSG is actively seeking reinforcements.
As Marquinhos enters his 30s, the club may also look to bring in younger talent to freshen up their defense. In 2024, PSG took steps forward by signing promising center-backs Lucas Beraldo and Willian Pacho.
But the club isn’t done yet, with fresh defensive targets reportedly on their radar. Last summer, PSG made a late push for Tomás Araújo, though the deal ultimately fell through.
Foot Mercato reported that sporting advisor Luis Campos has recently met with representatives of RC Lens defender Abdukodir Khusanov. While discussions have begun, PSG has yet to make a formal offer.

Lens have placed a €15 million to €20 million price tag on Khusanov in this transfer window, with multiple Premier League clubs showing interest in the Uzbekistan international.
CaughtOffside reported on Saturday, citing sources, that Manchester City have shown interest in Khusanov and are planning further talks regarding a potential transfer. The Premier League champions are considering an initial €10 million bid as Pep Guardiola looks to strengthen his squad ahead of the 2025 season.
Marseille, PSG, and Newcastle United are also interested in the 20-year-old, with Newcastle particularly keen on bringing Khusanov to St James’ Park in January to bolster their push for a Champions League spot. Moreover, the player is reportedly open to the move.
However, Wolverhampton Wanderers are believed to be leading the race for Khusanov, per the report. The Midlands club has already begun negotiations with Lens and is prepared to spend significantly to secure the Ligue 1 star as manager Vitor Pereira looks to reinforce his defense.
