Women’s beach soccer team visits Arena Mané Garrincha

This Wednesday (16), the Brazilian Women’s Beach Soccer National Team was invited by the group responsible for managing Arena Mané Garrincha for a tour of the stadium, which will be one of the host venues for the FIFA Women’s World Cup next year. The delegation is in Brasília for the Nations Cup, taking place from September 17 to 20 at Arena Guariroba, in Ceilândia.

Welcomed by representatives of the company that manages the stadium and members of FIFA’s team in charge of Arena operations for the World Cup, the players visited the locker rooms, press room, VIP boxes, and the pitch.

For Adriele, voted the best beach soccer player in the world three times, the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil should serve as inspiration for all athletes.

“It was really great to see this massive structure up close and imagine the World Cup matches here. It will be a very special moment for women’s football as a whole, and I hope it also brings attention to beach soccer. We are the only discipline that still does not have a FIFA World Cup—the outdoor game and futsal already do—so we really hope this whole movement helps us get our own world championship too,” said Brazil’s number 10 on the sand.

Head coach Rose Andrade shares her player’s view.

“It was really great to see this whole structure up close. We thank the Arena management team for the invitation and also the FIFA team that welcomed us so warmly. Imagining this stadium packed on the day of the Women’s National Team’s World Cup match gives you chills. May it inspire our team for the Nations Cup. Who knows, maybe in the near future we’ll also be able to have a Women’s World Cup on the sand,” said Rose.

The Nations Cup will bring together Brazil’s men’s and women’s national teams. In the women’s competition, Brazil will face El Salvador and the Espírito Santo and Brasília teams. In the men’s competition, the opponents will be Colombia, El Salvador, and Peru.
