Real Madrid look set to spend big over the remaining weeks of the summer transfer window, and that could mean further sales are required. Yan Diomande and Rodri could both be set to move to the Bernabeu in big-money transfers, and if these were to happen, it would make sense to raise more funds in order to balance the books.

Real Madrid have already brought in a lot of money this summer, primarily from the activation of several sell-on clauses – as was the case with the likes of Victor Munoz (€20m) and Alvaro Rodriguez (€12.5m). They also sold Nico Paz for €60m to Como after triggering their €9m buy-back option, but still there is scope for further funds to be raised.

And the player that could help bring in more money is Alvaro Carreras. The defender, who do not convince new head coach Jose Mourinho, has been linked with an exit in recent weeks, and according to MD, Chelsea are one of the most interested clubs at this stage.

Chelsea are in the market for a new left-back after selling Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid, and head coach Xabi Alonso has identified Cucurella as his preferred target. The former Los Blancos manager is keen to be reunited with the player he signed last summer, and it would represent a golden chance for the Bernabeu club to recoup much of the €60m they spend on Cucurella a few weeks ago.

Real Madrid have already sold one left-back this summer in Fran Garcia, and with Ferland Mendy currently sidelined with injury, it would be a risk for Carreras to be sold. However, it must be remembered that Eduardo Camavinga – who himself does not want to leave despite not being counted on by Mourinho – can fill in at left-back, thus giving Chelsea more chances to secure an agreement for the former Benfica man.
