Former Leeds United forward Max Gradel has filed a FIFA complaint over Yan Diomande’s proposed £113m switch to Real Madrid, a move now understood to have stalled.
AS and Defensa Central report the transfer has been obstructed by a dispute over representation, with Madrid negotiating via Roc Nation in the belief the agency exclusively represented the 19-year-old.
Maxidel Management, run by Gradel, claims a contract breach and says it retains Diomonde’s rights until he leaves RB Leipzig, having brokered his switch from Leganes last summer.
The wrangle has halted paperwork on what was close to a five-year deal at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Madrid are said to be furious about the turn of events, feeling misled by a lack of transparency, and wary that paying the wrong agent could bring FIFA sanctions.
Ivorian journalist Malick Traore said the club’s frustration is directed at Roc Nation rather than Diomonde after discovering he remains tied to another agency.
Gradel, 38, became a cult figure at Leeds, helping win League One promotion in 2009/10 before scoring 18 goals in 41 Championship games, which earned a move to Saint-Etienne. He later played for Bournemouth, Toulouse, Sivasspor and Gaziantep before becoming an agent.
