Youthful Bayern beaten in opening friendly | OneFootball

Bayern’s first game of 2026/27 pre-season ended in a 2-1 defeat away at Wehen Wiesbaden on Saturday. Ibrahim Ati Allah gave the home side the lead in a game to mark their 100th anniversary, before Tom Bischof’s penalty restored parity in the second half. But Lukas Schleimer pounced in the closing minutes to earn the 3. Liga club victory.

With the majority of the senior squad not yet available following the World Cup, Vincent Kompany fielded a team of teenagers with an average age of just over 17 years to begin at the Brita-Arena, including 16-year-old David Podar-Stiube in goal.

The home side, who are just two weeks away from the start of their season in the 3. Liga, got off to the better start and pounced on a loose pass out from the back, which eventually came to Ati Allah, who beat Podar-Stiube with a low shot by the near post.

Bayern’s teenagers grew into the game and came closest through a Guido Della Rovere free-kick, before Tarik Gözüsirin very nearly made it 2-0 for Wiesbaden with an audacious effort from halfway that bounced over the crossbar. Kompany made his first three changes after the first hydration break, after which play calmed up until half-time.

All available senior players were then introduced for the second half. All the changes made an impact as first-half substitute Tim Binder won a penalty, which our new No.8 Bischof converted underneath goalkeeper Florian Stritzel. However, it was Wehen who found themselves a winner when Schleimer pounced on a spilled shot by Sven Ulreich with only a few minutes remaining.
