Yuri Alberto back as Corinthians train before 2026 debut

Next Sunday (11th), at 4 PM (Brasília time), Corinthians will make its debut in the Paulista Championship and, consequently, in the 2026 season, against Ponte Preta at the Neo Química Arena. The Alvinegro is the greatest and current state champion with 31 titles – the last one against Palmeiras in March of last year.

Close to returning to the field, the Corinthians squad carried out, this Friday (9th), the penultimate activity before the match against the Campinas team. The athletes started the day with strength training in the gym and then had a ten-on-ten tactical exercise led by coach Dorival Júnior.

Additionally, offensive and defensive set pieces were practiced. Finally, there was a focus on free kicks and finishing. The main news of the day was the return of forward Yuri Alberto to Corinthians' training. This is because the number 9 missed most of the first week of pre-season as he was in Italy resolving issues related to his Italian citizenship.

Meanwhile, midfielder André Carrillo, who missed Thursday's (8th) training due to a flu, did not appear in the training photos released by Corinthians. Midfielder Raniele and forward Memphis Depay, on the other hand, continue with internal physical recovery work at CT Dr. Joaquim Grava and have not yet trained on the field since the return last Saturday (3rd).

José Martínez, on the other hand, remains in Venezuela seeking resolutions related to his new Venezuelan passport. It is worth remembering that the country is undergoing a geopolitical crisis involving the United States. According to UOL, the athlete has been receiving a training schedule from the club itself while he has not returned to Brazil.
